1. Who we are
Giftwise ("we", "us", "our") provides a web application at getgiftwise.com that helps you organize gift ideas, occasions, budgets, and the people you shop for. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Account information: your email address and, if you provide one, a display name and avatar image, collected when you sign up.
Content you create: the people, occasions, gifts, budgets, and notes you add to organize your own gift planning.
Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details ourselves -- Stripe shares only the subscription status and billing metadata needed to manage your account.
Usage information: basic technical data (such as browser type and general usage patterns) if analytics are enabled, used only to understand how the app is used and to fix problems.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to operate the app (storing and displaying the data you enter), to communicate with you (such as occasion or gift-deadline reminders you opt into, and account-related emails), to process payments for premium features, and to maintain and improve the service.
4. Notifications
If you opt in, we send email and/or browser push reminders about upcoming occasions and gift deadlines. You can turn these on or off at any time in Settings.
5. How we protect your information
Your data is stored in a managed database with row-level security, meaning your account can only access its own records. Passwords are handled entirely by our authentication provider and are never visible to us in plain text.
6. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to run Giftwise (for example, our database/authentication provider, our payment processor Stripe, and, if enabled, our email and push-notification providers), and only to the extent needed for them to perform those services.
7. Your choices
You can update or delete the information in your account at any time from within the app. You can disable notification channels in Settings. To request full account deletion, contact us using the details below.
8. Cookies
We use only the cookies/local storage strictly necessary to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. If we enable analytics in the future, we will ask for your consent first via the cookie banner shown on the site.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
